Who on the Radio

Have a craving for some Classic Who? Radio 7 is airing a couple of programs this week that just might strike your fancy.

First, Barry Letts reads his autobiography, Who and Me. Doctor Who's TV producer from 1969-74, Barry Letts recounts his early career through to his working life with Jon Pertwee.

Next, Tom Baker reads the serialization of his first story, Robot, in Doctor Who and the Giant Robot.

Both programs are airing back to back, Monday through Friday. Although the first three episodes have already aired, they are available for one week in the Listen Again section. :)

Also, if you just love listening to Tom's voice, be sure to check out Little Britain and Lionel Nimrod's Inexplicable World, also on Radio 7!

December Steering Meeting!

Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a great weekend! Don't forget our December steering meeting will be this Thursday, December 2nd from 7-9pm. It looks like we'll be back at the Giant Eagle Market District at Kingsdale in Upper Arlington. (for directions and contact info, be sure to check the DWC Yahoo list)

Well, last week was Doctor Who's 47th anniversary. Already there are ramblings about how to celebrate the Golden anniversary. BBC News just published an article this morning-apparently Sylvester McCoy would be very interested in returning for a multi-doctor episode for the big 5-0. Why not? They did one for the 10th and 25th anniversaries. Personally, I would love to see Paul McGann as well. :) What are your thoughts?

Hope to see you on Thursday!

Oh! Just a reminder-for anyone who went to Chicago Tardis this past weekend-if you took any pictures that you would like to share on this blog, please contact me! Thanks!!

November Steering meeting-change of venue!

Hi everyone!

This is just a reminder to folks that our monthly steering meeting is this Thursday, November 4th, from 7 to 9 pm!

This month Andrew would like to try something fun and different, so our meeting will be at the Giant Eagle Market District at Kingsdale in Upper Arlington. (This is only a few blocks from our usual locale.)

Market District at Kingsdale offers plenty of food options including a fresh Crépe station, a Rosti station, a Indian Food station, normal Salad Bar, and Hot food bar, as well as a made-to-order Pizzaria. All plates are only 5 or 6 dollars. Cold drinks as well as wine glasses, and anything you would normally find in a grocery store to eat and drink are available.

With seating for 400, we should have no trouble finding a spot! Let's all meet upstairs where there are nice tables, and couches. :)

There is plenty to talk about including the newest episodes of Sarah Jane Adventures, with special appearance of the Doctor.

See you all there!

Marcon staffing...

Calling all members!

To anyone who is interested in being part of the Video Department this year at Marcon:

Marcon Staff Registration is due by March 15th. The next ConCom meeting is on March 13th, and ours is March 4th. If you haven't signed up please attend our steering meeting and bring $15. If you cannot and would like to be Staff at Marcon this year, please email Andrew off-list and we'll setup a time and place to meetup and get your staff form filled out.

If you are planning on attending the March 13th ConCom meeting, you may pay then as well. Remember you get to attend Marcon for only $15 this way. You also have to put in hours helping the con at the con- but you also get a vote and a say in next year's chair too.

Right now we have 9 staff members- a couple more would be a great help. Please consider helping us out! (Join us-it's fun!!!) :)

SpamBots

It looks like the blog has been hit by spam again. I had a word verification set up for comments, but it doesn't appear to be working. I reset the settings on the blog-word verification is still there, but now if you want to comment on something that is older than 14 days, the comment will be sent to me for moderation. Hopefully I won't have to resort to full comment moderation.

Thanks for your understanding! :)

Marcon will be having their annual fundraiser for SOLAE. If you're already a member of the Marcon group don't forget to print out the flyers and receive 10% off your dinner. Also, a percentage of all purchases go to SOLAE and to support Marcon (yay!).

We will be discussing everything from Marcon, to the latest Doctor Who episodes. Be sure to bring your thinking caps for the Video room at Marcon. Don't forget- the Gallifrey Con on the west coast is only 6 weeks away!! If you're interested in going, come and discuss what a great event they have too. :)

Here's a bit of trivia for you-anyone catching the new series Demons on BBC America? Recognize the actor who plays Luke? Post your guesses in the comments (and no cheating on IMDB.com!!! It took me FOREVER to figure out who he was without looking! Share in my pain! LOL.) I'll post the answer in a about a week. Winners receive...well, winners receive a thumbs up of awesomeness! ;)

Hope to see you at Max&Erma's!
