I came across this discussion on my LiveJournal friend's list. Apparently the BBC has sent a notice to a fan in the U.K. that she had to remove her Doctor Who inspired knitting patterns that she was posting on her site for free. The boingboing and open rights group posts that are cited in this post are an interesting read (don't forget the comments!), as is this blog post by TechnoLlama. Crafters beware!
