Marcon 42, part 1

First of all, let me begin by saying, I had a fantastic time!!!

I wasn't there long before I ran into some fellow Whovians! Finding one person with a sonic screwdriver is cool...but 4? That's a picture waiting to happen. LOL.

Ahh, where to begin? Well, first let me say that I think the video room was a huge success! Jarrod and Andrew did an awesome job putting it all together.
(<---Jarrod and Andrew, hard at work)
I'm glad I had the chance to be a part of it.

I liked the variety of programs in the video room-some I had heard of, but hadn't seen many episodes. Others I had never heard of at all, but now I want to check out more! (thanks, guys. :p LOL ;) )

Other members enjoying the show

I loved hanging out with everyone in the video room-it's always fun to realize that you aren't the only one in the room quoting Doctor Who word for word. ;) And what could be better than cramming 56 people in the room at 1:15am Sunday morning for a showing of Human Nature? :-D Fantastic!

TAFN, stay tuned for part 2!

what's on and what's coming to dvd!

Series 3/Season 29 in the U.K.
Saturdays, 7pm (GMT) on BBC One

Current episode:
7. 42

Previous epiosdes:
6. The Lazarus Experiment
5. Evolution of the Daleks
4. Daleks in Manhattan
3. Gridlock
2. The Shakespeare Code
1. Smith and Jones

Cool-episode 42 has a prologue.

Coming to Region 1 dvd on August 14th: Robot (yay!) and Survival. Check out the details and cover art. The UK versions of these stories are going to be released at the end of this month. A little over 2 months-that's not too bad.

Speaking of UK dvds-two new titles have been announced for region 2: The Time Warrior will be released on September 3rd, and the Key to Time box set will follow on September 23rd. Although we already have the Key to Time box set, the Time Warrior is new to us (and about time, too!) Hopefully it'll follow the same pattern as the others and will cross over to this side of the pond later this fall. :) [BBC link]

A couple more links:
Jack's back!

Book bonanza Three new books involving the Doctor and Martha!

And finally...
Have you heard the rumor? There have been talks about a new Doctor Who movie starring Paul McGann as the Doctor. If the rumor becomes fact, the movie would be separate from the current BBC series. Hmm...although I wasn't a big fan of the 1996 movie, I have really enjoyed McGann's Big Finish audios. If it does happen, I'll certainly give it a go. ;) [SyFy Portal link]

TAFN, happy Who watching!!!

Doctor Who this week

Series 3/Season 29 in the U.K.
Saturdays, 7pm (GMT) on BBC One

Current episode:
6. The Lazarus Experiment

Previous epiosdes:
5. Evolution of the Daleks
4. Daleks in Manhattan
3. Gridlock
2. The Shakespeare Code
1. Smith and Jones

Big news of the week: Doctor Who will not be on next week, due to the Eurovision Song Contest on the 12t. Rather than air the 7th episode, 42 at an earlier time, the BBC decided to postpone Doctor Who for a week. 42 will air on May 19th.
[BBC link]
However, because we are being forced to wait so long for the next new episode, the BBC will be providing a special treat for fans at the end of the Lazarus Experiment-so stay tuned for something special!!

DVD updates: Time-flight / Arc of Infinity from the Fifth Doctor Era will be released on dvd in the U.K. on August 6th. Check out the list of features for each story!

This next bit was actually posted awhile ago, but I didn't link to it here: Top ten scariest Doctor Who monsters/villians -Daleks top the list-no real surprise there!! ;)

Spinoff updates: Haven't posted much about the spinoffs lately. The first season of the Sarah Jane Adventures began filming on April 16th. Torchwood's second season started filming two weeks later (April 30th). Yay! :)

There's also a new face in SJA. Daniel Anthony will be playing Clyde-a new friend of Maria and Luke's from school. His character replaces Porsha Lawrence Mavour's Kelsey from the New Years' special. [sarah-jane.tv] link

And finally, this week's SyFriday article over at the SyFy Portal features Doctor Who!
Where is 'Doctor Who' headed in Year 3? (Warning: contains moderate spoilers for season 3).

TAFN, happy Who watching!!!

Marcon 42 volunteers!

Hey everyone!!! Just a friendly reminder, if you are planning on volunteering for the Doctor Who video room at Marcon, please start sending your availability and shift preferrences to Jarrod. He needs your times no later than Tuesday, May 8th, so he can plan the schedule.

Also-please plan on attending either the May 12th or May 18th meeting, so he can go over the schedule, where to get your Staff IDs, and any other information you'll need.

Thanks!!! :)
