The Caretaker at Grandview!

Join us tonight at 9 for The Caretaker at the Grandview Theatre!

Also, Isa will be on hand with her Tumblr project!  From Isa:
Heads-up: as some of you may know, I am working on part of a project with Tumblr. The project is a scrapbook that will be sent to Peter Capaldi for Christmas. My contribution is a copy of the poster used at the Grandview Theatre for the S8 premiere, with messages for Capaldi on it from all of us. A group project, if you will.
If you would like to write a message to Capaldi on the poster, or a word or two about what Doctor Who means to you, the poster will be at the Grandview this Saturday during the show.
This will be the LAST weekend it will be at the Grandview. If you'd like to write something but can't make it to the show at the Grandview, contact me privately or post on the Facebook page and we can make other arrangements.
 Hope to see you there!

Ohio will have showings in Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton, and Cleveland Heights.  For a theater near you, check out the Fathom Events page.

DWFO #8: the 50th Anniversary Suite

In case you missed it, here's the Doctor Who Fan Orchestra's 8th presentation, the 50th Anniversary Suite!

Originally scheduled to be released before the 50th Anniversary, real life became rather busy for our fearless leader, Stephen Willis, so it was postponed to a later date. The final product was released on December 20th, and it was worth the wait!

And yes, that is Ben Foster (conductor) in the video!!!

Our next piece will be 'Martha Meets Shakespeare'. More details when the time comes (although honestly, if you want to take part-it's better to follow the DWFO on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube-because of the cutoff for the number of participants, by the time I see the video for new participants, it's already full!)

Enjoy!

P.S.

The following clip was just released from the BBC. It was an un-shot scene from The Angels Take Manhattan by Chris Chibnall. Complete with storyboard images and narrated by Rory (Arthur Darvill)himself. Find out what happened to Brian Williams after Amy and Rory disappeared!

I really wish this had been shot, especially since I loved Rory's dad Brian since the moment he hit the screen. It did bring some closure and it was nice to have Arthur Darvill narrate the scene. I will miss the Ponds! :)

Join the DWFO for The Impossible Astronaut (Suite)!

The Doctor Who Fan Orchestra is gearing up for our fifth collaboration!

Special note: Due to an unprecedented interest in The Impossible Astronaut, the sign ups will be limited to the first 600 applicants.

 From Stephen:
The DWFO will have to limit signups for The Impossible Astronaut to the first 600 applicants. It may fill up quickly! We apologize sincerely for this potential early closure to signups, but from your overwhelming response in these first days, we literally may not be able to handle all your requests! DWFO #4: Dalek Suite

Just thought I would share the Doctor Who Fan Orchestra's latest work on the eve of the Grandview Theatre's showing of The Chase!

 The Dalek Suite!

I would have to say this piece was the most fun to work on-and is one of my favorites. The next piece will be "The Impossible Astronaut Suite" and I'm really excited about this! The suite will include bits from "I Am the Doctor" (DWFO's first piece)-I didn't join the DWFO until the 2nd piece, but I really enjoyed "I Am the Doctor" Looking forward to playing at least part of it in the suite!

We are always looking for new members! I'll be posting the next promo video as soon as it's available, but you can also follow our fearless leader Stephen on YouTube at socksofbalhoon. :)

Doctor Who Fan Orchestra (DWFO #3): Rose's Theme/Doomsday

This past summer, I joined the Doctor Who Fan Orchestra-an online collaborative project to celebrate Murray Gold's music for the series. I discovered the group through one of my Doctor Who feeds, when they released their first work, "I Am the Doctor." After watching that first video, I was incredibly excited to discover that they were recruiting for their second piece, "This is Gallifrey/Vale Decem". For several weeks I rehearsed, recorded, and re-recorded my part-and it was worth it! :) Members sent in audio recordings of their individual parts (and multiple parts, if they were playing more than one instrument or submitting a vocal part), along with an optional video. http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif

This is our third collaboration, "Rose's Theme/Doomsday":

We had 154 individual participants, from 18 different countries! (sweet, huh?)

If you would like to participate in the next piece, follow Stephen Willis, socksofbalhoon on YouTube-he will be releasing a recruitment video in the near future. :)

To find out more about the DWFO, check out the DWFO blog. :)

If you do join, (or have previously participated), please send me a note so I can mention you here on this blog!
